Hi everyone! My name is Angela Bolick. I am a third-year student majoring in Health Studies. After my undergrad, I plan to pursue either a master’s degree in physiotherapy therapy or attend law school. I have a keen interest in pursuing a career wherein I can help people in some capacity.
On a more personal note, I am an avid traveller, dog lover, rugby player, NFL fanatic and a fervent supporter of pineapple on pizza.
I was inspired to take this course (EMPR 200) as I recognize the value of positive relationships; particularly in the context of employment. I have experienced and witnessed first-hand the importance of fostering good working relationships; irrespective of what field you work within. Therefore, regardless of which career I choose to pursue, I want to possess a wide array of knowledge in the diverse complexities of employment relations.
The two aspects of this field that uniquely spark my interest are dispute resolution and employment law.

Thank you for sharing your story! I also have the same passion as you in travelling and doing sports. I have two-year-old Samoyed named Kira! I totally agree with you that this introductory course can provide a strong insight into workplace relations, and provide different topics of Canadian laws, relations and policies that we are entitled to as a Canadian employee.

I noticed from your introductory blog post your keen interest in a variety of departments; many of which are organized through the AMS for us as undergraduate students at Queen’s. Within the AMS, (and specifically Talent Acquisition Management), I could introduce you to this year’s Talent Acquisition Manager as she is a good friend. She can give you insight on how you get involved in this realm of employment relations here at Queen’s.

Ew, pizza on pineapple! Count me as a fervent critic! Given the dispute we would likely have were we to share a pizza, you can look forward to learning some dispute resolution skills in this course that would help us resolve this conflict!

Thank you for sharing! I also love travelling. Where is your favourite place that you have visited? Feel free to visit my blog to see more about my recent travels! Do you have a dog or multiple of your own? I have wanted a dog since I was little but sadly only ever had pet fish. Not very exciting to have as a pet.
In this course I am also eager to learn about dispute resolution and I think employment law will give you a good foundation for your future career aspirations!

Thank you for your comment. I’m overjoyed we share the common interest of travel. It is hard to pick a favorite place, but one of the most beautiful places I have been is Peru. I highly recommend it if you love the outdoors and history. I have two dogs; a German shepherd – St. Bernard mix and a black lab. You should definitely get a dog; it is an investment into your happiness!
